Who?
Hi there, my name is Sue Belcher. With over 15 years in the catering trade, including being a restaurant manager and owner, I was aware of the value placed by my customers on quality and freshness as much as price, as well as the interest in locally and ethically sourced food, and so I opened a delicatessen called Bloomfields fine food (Bloomfield being my maiden name) in the lovely village of Shrivenham in 2007.
The shop soon proved a great success, so much so that in May 2009 I opened a second shop just a few miles away in the pretty market town of Highworth. With help from all my fantastic, dedicated staff the shops have gone from strength to strength and in November 2009 we were delighted to be awarded ‘Swindon New Business of the Year’ by the Swindon Strategic Economic Partnership. We believe that buying local and regional food supports small businesses, rural ways of life and also the local economy as well as being good for our environment. It also tastes fantastic! We support Fairtrade products and our range is very popular - we have helped both Highworth and Shrivenham to become recognised ‘Fairtrade’ communities.
We also feel we are helping in our own small way to keep the high street alive. With so much ‘out of town’ competition these days from large supermarkets and shopping centre’s we think it’s really important that our high streets remain in use and that everyone in the community can shop locally. We look forward to meeting you in one of our shops very soon!
